How much of a retrofit grant will I be entitled to?

A. The retrofit grant depends on the type and amount of improvements you have done in your home. The Energy Efficiency Evaluation Report provided by the advisor who performs your home energy audit includes a list of upgrades and the associated grant amounts you will receive if you carry out the recommended home improvements. In addition, the report will indicate the relative impact the upgrades will have on the home's energy efficiency level.

The average grant for a home is expected to be about $2,000 which includes $1,000 each from the Ontario and federal governments. The maximum grant available for one home or multi-unit residential building is $5,000 from Ontario and $5,000 from the federal government.

Property owners of multiple unit residential buildings are eligible for up to $1,000,000 over the life of the program -- $500,000 each from the Ontario and federal governments. Ontario’s retrofit program ends March 31, 2012. The federal government’s program ends March 31, 2011.
